Promotion of Poland during the Chopin Festival in Amsterdam

Three days of concerts, stories about our common history and a presentation of Poland’s tourist attractions – this is what the seventh edition of the Chopin Festival in Amsterdam looked like, which took place last weekend. The Foreign Center of the Polish Tourist Organization in Amsterdam used the event to promote Poland as a country of unique culture, music and European heritage.

From July 10 to 12, 2026, the seventh edition of the Chopin Festival, organized by the Chopin Foundation in the Netherlands, took place in the historic Amstelkerk church. This year’s program was devoted to the historical and cultural connections between Poland and the Netherlands.

ZOPOT Amsterdam has prepared an exhibition during the festival dedicated to Polish cities and places related to the life and work of Fryderyk Chopin. It was accompanied by a promotional stand, where participants could learn about Poland’s tourist offer and receive materials encouraging them to travel in the composer’s footsteps.

Chopin’s music became the starting point for the story about Poland as a country with a rich musical, historical and cultural heritage. The exhibition showed that the composer’s work can also inspire people to discover Polish cities, monuments and places related to his biography.

The most important events of the festival included a concert by pianist Anna Fedorova and a performance by German-Canadian cellist Johannes Moser. Together with pianist Clara Biermasz, he performed the rarely presented Cello Sonata by Fryderyk Chopin. The audience also listened to works by Johannes Brahms and Gerard von Brucken Fock, called the “Dutch Chopin”.

A special theme of this year’s edition were the centuries-old connections between Poland and the Netherlands. The organizers recalled that many buildings within the Amsterdam canal ring, including the Amstelkerk, were built on wooden piles imported from Poland. In turn, some of the tenement houses in Gdańsk were built of bricks from the Netherlands.
