Pizza for 5 euros, breakfast for 2. The cheapest country for holidays for Poles – Wprost Travel

Kinga and Albi, who run a Polish-Albanian travel agency, talked on their vlog about the costs of traveling around this country and the prices we can expect on the spot.

Cheap destination by the sea in Europe

“If we talk about Durrës, it’s a good choice. The prices are very affordable and the quality of the food is good. If we want to make a typical Albanian breakfast, coffee with water costs 80 cents, and burek (phyllo pastry stuffed with stuffing) costs from 60 cents to 1 euro, depending on the size. In Albania, there are not many typical brunches (e.g. avocado bread). Maybe in Tirana or Shkodër, but in other cities a typical breakfast is an omelette or fried eggs (about 7 euros),” said Albi.

Prices of local products in stores (e.g. fruit and vegetables) may be lower than in Poland, and imported products more expensive (the country is not a member of the European Union and customs duties must be added). Albi also listed several prices for dinners in restaurants on the main promenade of Durres: EUR 6.5 for pasta with seafood (approx. PLN 30), EUR 5 for a 300 g piece of grilled sea bream (approx. PLN 22).

Although the official currency is lek, in many tourist places we can pay in euro. The film also included the names of recommended restaurants with good prices.

Holidays in Albania. Accommodation is not expensive

A year ago with my own YouTubers shared their experiences about traveling in Albania from the Orient Explorer channel. In June, they spent EUR 25 per night for the whole family (about PLN 100) for accommodation with a sea view, dinner cost up to EUR 5 per person, and coffee less than EUR 2. The couple was also pleased with the prices of water and children’s attractions.

“What definitely influences the competitiveness of this country compared to others are, first of all, the prices of accommodation. We stayed in an apartment, but you can also choose a hotel with breakfast by the sea for as little as EUR 40,” the Pole said in the video.

Despite this, you can find different opinions about attractive prices in the comments. “I have nothing against Albania – beautiful country, great nature and food – but promoting it as a cheap alternative is a bit of a thing of the past,” we read.
