Digital tools and new standards of tourist service – the topic of the POT and Tourist Information Forum meeting

Modern digital tools necessary to conduct the Tourist Information E-Certification process in Poland were the main topic of the meeting between representatives of the Polish Tourist Organization and the Management Board of the Tourist Information Forum. The meeting took place on July 2-3 in Podlesice, Silesian Voivodeship.

One of the key tasks The Polish Tourist Organization is responsible for the development of the Polish Tourist Information System. An important element of these activities is E-Certification, carried out by POT in cooperation with the Tourist Information Forum. The aim of the project is to improve the quality of tourist service and ensure a high standard of information provided at tourist information points and centers throughout Poland.

The meeting in Podlesice was an opportunity to discuss updating the regulations and criteria related to the process E-Certification of Tourist Information PSIT’2027. The discussions focused on adapting the certification rules to current trends in the functioning of tourist information, with particular emphasis on digital communication with domestic and foreign tourists visiting Polish destinations.

The meeting agenda also included talks on future training for tourist information staff, organized by Polish Tourist Organization in cooperation with Regional Tourist Organizations. Their aim will be to further strengthen the competences of people working at tourist information points and centers and to support them in everyday service to tourists.

An important element of the meeting was also the exchange of good practices and learning about local tourist attractions Trail of the Association of Jura Municipalities. By invitation Robert Nieroda That Association of Jurassic Communesmeeting participants had the opportunity to learn about the tourism potential Kraków-Częstochowa Juravisiting, among others, Bąkowiec Castle and a picturesque group of rocks Okiennik Wielki. The local offer of geotourism and active tourism was also presented, as well as tourist products of the region, including the Trail of the Eagles’ Nests.

The participants also learned about the activities of the most modern station in Poland of the Jurassic GOPR Group, which presented technological solutions used for the safety of tourists.

There was also a visit to Tourist Information Point in Podlesicewhere the meeting participants exchanged experiences related to running this type of facilities and everyday service to visitors.

Tourist information centers and points are for many tourists the first place of contact with the destination they are visiting. They play an important role in building the image of Poland as a hospitable, well-organized and open country to the needs of travelers. To effectively support tourists, they must provide reliable, up-to-date and accessible information.

Constant analysis of travel trends, development of staff competences and implementation of modern digital tools are of key importance for further strengthening of the Polish Tourist Information System and effective promotion of Polish tourism.
