A lake as beautiful as the Baltic Sea. It’s only 2 hours away from Wrocław – Podróże Wprost

Jezioro

This time, not in Poland, but in Germany, we found an attraction perfect for a weekend trip. There is a lake called Berzdorfer See near the Polish border. An artificially created reservoir on the site of a former mine attracts tourists with crystal clear water. The area also offers many green areas.

Berzdorfer See like the sea

To hit over Berzdorfer Seego to the southern border of the city of Görlitz in Saxony, Upper Lusatia. There is a reservoir with an area of 960 ha, with a depth of 72 m at its deepest point. As for its circumference, it is almost 20 km, and there are many beautiful beaches on the shores.

During the season, sunbathing enthusiasts and sailors come to the German lake. The water is great for bathing, especially since it is sweet, so under no circumstances will we be covered with salt.

Particularly recommended beaches are: Nordstrand and Nord-Oststrand located from the north to the north-eastern side of the lake. There, tourists will benefit not only from the bosom of nature, but also from bicycle paths, observation towers, playgrounds and a food stand. Would you like to spend the night? There will be plenty of camping in the summer.

Not only a lake, but also a city… and close to Poland

A good break from relaxing by the lake will be a visit to the town of Görlitz. This historic gem offers over 4,000 monuments from various eras. Worth visiting include: Lower Market Square (Untermarkt) with the town hall, church of St. Peter and Paul and unique Hall Houses. Do not forget about the Tauchritz water castle or the other town of Ostriz with the Marienthal monastery.

When planning a visit from Poland, remember that you will get there quickly from Wrocław and the surrounding area. In this case, the journey by car should take approximately 2 hours. People living in Zgorzelec will cross the border in as little as 10 minutes and get to the lake in 16 minutes. We should also not forget that the Old Town Bridge (Altstadtbrücke) is a point connecting the German Görlitz with the Polish Zgorzelec and is a symbol of the unity of both cities.
