Croatia remains one of the most important holiday destinations for Poles – last year the country was visited by 1.24 million tourists from Poland.
In response to the continuing demand, carriers are intensifying their transport offers. FlixBus is significantly expanding its connection network before the summer season, offering direct connections from Poland to 19 cities on the Adriatic.
Competitive travel times and prices
One of the key elements of the offer is travel time. The fastest connection between Warsaw and Rijeka takes 17 hours and 30 minutes, which – as the carrier emphasizes – makes the bus a real alternative to rail transport.
Price is also an important argument. Tickets on routes from Poland to Croatia start from PLN 149.99, which is in line with the growing price sensitivity of tourists planning holiday trips.
Directly to 19 cities
In the summer season, FlixBus offers direct connections from 10 Polish cities, including Warsaw, Krakow, Wrocław, Katowice and Kielce. In total, the network includes 19 Croatian destinations – both the largest tourist centers, such as Split, Zagreb and Dubrovnik, as well as smaller towns on the Adriatic Sea.
The list of available destinations includes: Rijeka, Zadar, Pula, Trogir, Makarska, Vodice, Rovinj, Baška Voda, Biograd na Moru, Šibenik, Omiš and Ploče, as well as locations on the islands, including Krk.
Some connections – including: to Rijeka, Pula or Zagreb – it is maintained all year round. During the peak summer season, the offer is additionally strengthened – for example, on the Warsaw-Rijeka route, there are two trips a day.
The effect of market liberalization in Croatia
The expansion of the offer means not only new international connections, but also the dynamic development of the domestic network in Croatia. Since December 2025, as a result of regulatory changes and market liberalization, FlixBus has significantly increased the number of internal connections.
Currently, the network covers over 130 cities, and on selected routes the number of routes has increased even sixfold. The largest increases in frequency were recorded, among others, on routes:
- Zagreb–Rijeka–Pula (17 connections per day),
- Zagreb–Varaždin–Čakovec (17 connections),
- Zagreb–Osijek (8 connections).
For passengers from Poland, this means greater flexibility in planning their journey and the ability to reach less obvious locations with one transfer, most often in Zagreb, Split or Rijeka.
– Croatia is one of our key destinations, which we have been developing consistently since 2019. Market liberalization and the development of domestic connections have allowed us to significantly increase the availability of transport, also for passengers from Poland – emphasizes Michał Leman, Vice President Europe East at FlixBus.
Transport as an element of the tourist product
The development of the connection network is part of a broader trend of increasing transport accessibility of popular destinations. In the context of rising travel costs and greater consumer caution, attractively priced and relatively fast bus transport may be an important element of the destination’s competitiveness.
An additional advantage of the offer is the possibility of transporting bicycles – already available in approximately 60% of buses. The cost of this service is PLN 5, which may be important for the active tourism segment, especially in the context of popular bicycle routes along the Croatian coast.
The expansion of connections to Croatia shows that:
- demand for southern European destinations remains stable,
- transport accessibility is a key factor in choosing a destination,
- market liberalization may significantly accelerate the development of the transport offer,
- the coach transport segment is strengthening its position as an alternative to other means of transport.
In practice, this means further integration of transport with the tourist product – especially in the case of mass destinations such as Croatia.
