Appel à retarder le système EES

Ryanair warns against chaos. The industry is afraid of implementing the EES system before the summer season.

Ryanair has called for a delay in the implementation of the EU’s Entry/Exit System (EES), which is intended to cover border checks for non-EU travelers using biometric data. The carrier indicates that the infrastructure at many European airports is not prepared to support the new system, which may lead to serious operational disruptions during the peak summer season.

The reservations concern primarily the extended border clearance time, which in practice may mean long queues and an increased risk of delays and missed connections by transit passengers. The aviation industry has been signaling for several months that the implementation of EES in its current form may negatively impact the punctuality of operations and passenger experience.

Some Member States are already taking precautionary measures. In the case of Greece, the implementation of the system was postponed to a later date, which shows the scale of concerns about operational readiness. For the tourism industry, this means the risk of additional tensions during a period of high demand and the need to prepare customers for possible difficulties at the EU’s external borders.
