El deporte, la diversión, la moda y la tradición volvieron a darse cita en la Gala del Derby, celebrada en el hipódromo de Służewiec.

The Służewiec Horse Racing Track is a unique place on the map of Warsaw, combining the past with the future, and one of the symbols of the capital.

“It is a beautiful point on the map of Warsaw, full of greenery and wonderful architecture, where everyone can really find something for themselves. At the Służewiec Track we meet both outstanding experts and great racing enthusiasts, as well as families with children and groups of friends who come here to rest, relax and spend their entire free day,” says Beata Stelmach, president of the management board of Totalizator Sportowy. It is Totalizator Sportowy, the largest patron of Polish culture and sport, that takes care of the historical complex and is also involved in the development of Polish horse racing.

To the rhythm of classic sounds, but also pre-war hits, played by, among others, by the “Melodia i Rytm” Dance Orchestra under the direction of Jan Emil Młynarski, you could admire amazing – women’s and men’s – creations. After all, you should come to Służewiec well-dressed – so dresses and fascinators, jackets and caps reigned supreme. With the youngest in mind, a special zone was prepared where children had the opportunity to participate in animations and activities on the playground, among others. In turn, all lovers of tasty food were waiting for stands in the catering zone and numerous food trucks.

“Live music, fashion shows, many distinguished guests, including representatives of the Polish diplomatic corps – despite the capricious, truly English weather, the Derby Gala turned out to be a great success again,” emphasizes Artur Kapelko, member of the management board of Totalizator Sportowy.

There were also great sports emotions that accompanied each of the nine races organized that day, including: for the Award of the President of Totalizator Sportowy, for the Novary Award and the President’s Cup. Warsaw or the Fryderyk Jurjewicz Memorial. The culminating moment was the 82nd Derby race, called the blue ribbon race.

This is the most important race of the season for three-year-old Thoroughbred horses and one of the most prestigious races in Poland, held over a distance of 2,400 meters. This season, the patron of the race is the Denza brand, which is also a partner of the 2026 season at the Służewiec Track. Winning it is considered the most reliable indicator of racehorse selection. The most important and oldest Derby is played on the English track in Epsom.

This time, the precious blue ribbon went to the back of the bay stallion Time for the Star ridden by Stefano Mura and trained by Adam Wyrzyk.

“The season at the Służewiec track is 45 days of racing, starting in mid-April and ending in mid-November. Many of them are attended by horses, jockeys and breeders from all over the world, and the importance and prestige of our competitions are constantly growing. We are very happy that we have managed to return to a well-deserved place in this discipline. We are already inviting you to experience more emotions, related to the Arabian Day on August 23, or the legendary Great Warsaw Race on September 27.” – emphasizes Paweł, director of the Służewiec Horse Racing Track.

The building complex was opened in 1939 and was then the largest and most modern infrastructure of this type in Europe. The facility, which was a showcase of the pre-war city, was then a witness to the heroic fight during the Warsaw Uprising, and today it once again provides unforgettable impressions and emotions to both Warsaw residents and guests from all over the country and the world.
